Description
St Thomas' Hospital Almshouses were founded in 1392 and rebuilt in the mid-19th century. These almshouses are set back from the roadway and consist of a central block featuring a striking Gothic window with two lights and a six-foil tracery circle, along with two lancet windows on the ground floor. Flanking the central block are two single ranges, with two-storey blocks at either end. The buildings are designed in a Gothic style from the mid-19th century, constructed from random rubble with dressed quoins and slated roofs. Each gable is adorned with a heavy carved barge board. The almshouses and the gateway form a cohesive group.
