Description
The Red Lion Public House is a timber-framed building located on Bridge High Street, with its rear elevation showcasing gables from the 16th or early 17th century and from the 18th century. It features an unusual arrangement of diagonal-set and polygonal chimney stacks. The rear elevation is constructed of brick and topped with a tile roof, while the front, dating from the mid-19th century, is finished in stucco with a parapet. The front has three irregular windows set in stucco surrounds, with the central window being moulded and featuring late glazing bars, possibly in older openings. A notable feature at the center is a pair of full-height Tuscan pilasters on tall plinths, which support smaller pilasters above, with a segmental cornice between the capitals. The ground floor includes two canted bays and a modern door and window at the center, while the original doorway has been blocked. There is also a one-storey extension to the left that is roughly rendered.
