Description
The railings, gatepiers, and gates at Elliott House were constructed between 1899 and 1901 as part of the design for the former Railwaymen's Convalescent Home, created by architect A. Saxon Snell for philanthropist and social reformer J. Passmore Edwards. The boundary features a low brick wall topped with stone and adorned with railings that have fleur de lys principals and scrollwork panels. There is a curved center section flanked by six chamfered stone gatepiers, each with moulded caps and bases, leading to central carriage and side pedestrian gates, along with four additional gatepiers.
