Description

The slipway located to the west of the Royal Native Oyster Stores dates back to 1890 or earlier. It is constructed of stone setts with granite curbs, resting on stone slabs that are supported by a wooden pile substructure. This slipway was used for hauling oyster boats up the beach to the oyster stores, and it is recognized as an integral part of the production process for oyster loads.
