Description

Moat Farmhouse is a Grade II listed building located on Ashford Road in Great Chart. It consists of two parallel ranges and is believed to date from the 17th century or earlier. The farmhouse features some exposed timber framing on the east wall, while the rest of the structure has been refaced in the 18th century. It stands two storeys tall with attics and has a front that is stuccoed, along with a stringcourse. The roof is tiled and includes two hipped dormers. On the ground floor, there are two casement windows and two small bays. The entrance features a doorcase with a flat hood supported by brackets. The east wall shows visible timber framing in one area, but is mainly faced with red brick and has a tile-hung gable end. A complete moat surrounds the house.
