Description

Shirley Farmhouse is a timber-framed building dating from the 16th century or earlier. It features plaster infilling and curved braces on the first floor of the north front, which originally over-sailed on the protruding ends of the floor joists but has since been underbuilt. The timber framing is now mainly exposed. The farmhouse is two storeys high with attics and has a steeply pitched hipped tiled roof that includes one hipped dormer. There are three casement windows. An L-wing was added to the south in the 18th century. Inside, the farmhouse contains a crownpost, a twin service entry, and a tie beam.
