Description
Stone House, formerly known as Cherry Farmhouse, is a building that consists of two separate parallel timber-framed ranges dating from the 16th century or earlier, which were joined by an addition in the 18th century. The building has two storeys and features four windows on the north side and two on the west side. The west front of the west wing displays exposed timber-framing with plaster infilling; the ground floor is close studded, while the first floor oversails on the protruding ends of the floor joists. The north return wall of this wing has been refaced with red brick. The east front of the east wing includes some plaster and painted brick infilling, along with a red brick chimney breast. Its north return wall is entirely plastered on the ground floor, while the first floor is weatherboarded and also oversails on the protruding ends of the floor joists. The section between the two wings on the north front is made of red brick. The roof is tiled with two hips. The building mostly features casement windows, but there are three sash windows with their glazing bars intact.
