Description

The Meeting House is a late medieval hall-house located on Smarden Water Lane. Originally a Quaker meeting house, it was later divided into two cottages but is now a single property. The south-east wing was refronted in the 18th century, while the north-west wing retains its exposed timber-framing and plaster infilling. The south-east wing features a red brick ground floor and tile-hung upper level. The building has a hipped tiled roof and includes four casement windows. The doorcases are adorned with pediment-shaped hoods supported by brackets.
