Description
Stapely Farmhouse is a two-storey house that dates from the 16th and 18th centuries and consists of two attached parts. The western part is older and has undergone significant alterations. Its north wall reveals a timber frame and features a Tudor-arched fireplace opening, suggesting that the northern section has been removed. The walling is made of red brick, with a first-floor band on the south gable, and it has irregular openings with Victorian sash windows upstairs and casements on the ground floor.
The larger section of the farmhouse has a symmetrical front facing south, with a slightly projecting center that includes three windows. The roof is covered with red tiles and is hipped at the east, featuring a pediment-shaped parapet gable in the center that contains a circular panel. The brickwork is in Flemish bond with first and second-floor bands, rubbed flat arches, stone cills, and a plinth. The central doorway is topped with a cornice on brackets and has a six-panelled door. The east front has three windows, with four blank spaces arranged symmetrically. The north elevation originally had five windows arranged symmetrically, but the western half has been altered.
