Description
Whitedown Cottages, located on Lenten Street, is a row of 19th-century cottages that are two stories high. Each cottage is two bays wide, except for No 1, which has three bays. The individual cottages are distinguished by broad flat pilasters. The building is constructed of colour-washed brick and has a slate roof. Each cottage features a single door beneath a bracketed and tiled hood, which is adorned with decorative ridge tiles. All the windows are sash windows, with those on the first floor positioned above those on the ground floor. No 1 has a central door flanked by a window on each side, with two windows on the first floor. Cottages Nos 2 to 7 follow a rhythmic pattern on the ground floor of window, door; door, window; window, door; door, window, and so on.
