Description
The temple, built by Lady Dorothy Wellesley, who later became the Duchess of Wellington, is located in the garden of Penns-in-the Rocks in Groombridge. Constructed in red brick, it features stone columns and a tiled roof. Lady Wellesley, a poetess, created this temple to honor fellow poets such as W. B. Yeats, Walter de la Mare, and Vita Sackville-West, who visited her. The names or initials of these poets are inscribed on stone tablets set into the floor.
