Description

Wenbans is a country house with a complex history, possibly originating as a royal hunting lodge associated with King John. The core of the current building dates to the 15th century, with substantial alterations made in the 16th century. It is a two-storey structure, featuring four windows. The western half of the building is clad in weatherboarding, while the eastern half combines weatherboarding with red brick on the first floor and tile hanging, with the tiles oversailing on brackets. The roof is tiled. Casement windows are present throughout. A 16th-century timber-framed barn once stood to the south-east of the house; this has now been incorporated into the main dwelling and connected by a corridor that was originally a cow shed.
