Description
Frogshole Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th century. It is a three-bay timber-framed cottage, with some diagonal braces visible on the northeast side, which has rendered infill, while the rest is mainly clad in weatherboarding. The southwest gable is tile hung. The cottage features a half-hipped tiled roof with a central brick chimneystack and has one storey plus an attic. There is a casement window on the southwest side with a door beneath it. On the northeast side, there is an early 20th-century wooden platform with a plank door, flanked by latticed windows above. The interior has not been inspected, but it is reported that the wall frame survives to eaves level, along with a small barred window. This cottage was likely originally a crofter's cottage and was mentioned in a report by R T Mason to the Sussex Archaeological Society on 21st November 1969.
