Description
The barn at Park Farm is a threshing barn, likely dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed with a timber frame, although the outer aisle walls on the south-west and north-west sides have been replaced with later brickwork. The barn features a tiled roof with a steep pitch and a hipped central cart entrance on the south-west side, which has weatherboarded cheeks and wooden double doors fitted with large hinges. The north-east side retains a lower central entrance.
Inside, the barn has jowled aisle posts with knees, angled queen struts, and staggered purlins and rafters that do not include a ridge-piece. The aisle posts are connected by midrails that have studs, and the central lower entrance on the north-east side also features a midrail and is close-studded above. The end walls have higher midrails, with a central post extending up to the midrail and diagonal tension braces reaching the corners. Three of the four diagonal supports on either side of the central threshing floor are still intact, and the outer aisle walls are close-studded with diagonal braces.
