Description
The monument to Frederick GJ Eckstein is a funeral monument located in the churchyard of Christ Church, erected in 1932 by Sir William Reid Dick. It features a stone sarcophagus on a plinth with a moulded lid. The corners of the monument are adorned with bronze angels with unfurled wings, and there are two bronze reliefs on the sides: one illustrates a scene from the First World War trenches, while the other depicts natives picking cotton. This monument is one of three dedicated to the Eckstein family in the churchyard and is linked to the refurbishment of Christ Church in the 1930s.
