Description

Horam War Memorial is a stone memorial dedicated to those who served in the First World War, built around 1920 and updated after the Second World War. It is made of granite and is situated on a bank outside Christ Church. The memorial features a Celtic-wheel cross that is supported by a tapered shaft. This shaft stands on a battered square plinth, which is set upon a three-stepped base arranged in an octagonal shape. The commemorative text is displayed in black metal letters, with "1914-1919/ 'THEIR NAME/ LIVETH FOR/ EVERMORE'" inscribed at the bottom of the shaft. The front face of the plinth lists the names of local fallen soldiers, and the monument also includes the dates "1939-1945".
