Description

Swiftsden Lodge is a lodge dating to approximately 1870, built in the Seacox Estate style and likely designed by Slater and Carpenter, exhibiting Vernacular Revival characteristics. The lodge is constructed with ground floor sandstone, a first floor incorporating both tile hanging and timber framing with a pebbledashed infill. It has a tiled roof with a single clustered brick chimneystack. The front elevation, set at a right angle to the road, features a gable with a fretted bargeboard, a four-light casement window on the first floor, and a canted bay window at ground floor level. The side elevation, facing the road, includes a large gabled dormer and a lean-to porch. The rear elevation displays a gable with fretted bargeboards, decorated with alternate courses of two plain and two curved tiles. It features a four-light casement window on the first floor, supported by wooden brackets, and two casement windows on the ground floor.
