Description
Darwell Beach is a Grade II listed property consisting of two 16th-century timber-framed buildings that were joined together in the 18th century to form an L-shape. The buildings are set on a stone rubble or brick plinth and are now tile-hung with a tiled roof. They feature casement windows and are two storeys high. The main section has three bays, while the unequal two-bay hall includes a smoke-bay and was always floored, with a single chamber open to the roof. Inside, there is an 18th-century staircase with turned balusters. The secondary portion also has three bays, including an unrestricted smoke-bay in the hall, and features a queen-post roof with wind braces. The chimneys are a later addition. At the time of the last survey, the house was empty and derelict. The building was relocated to its current site during the 1990s.
