Description

The Parish Church of St Nicholas is a Grade I listed building located in Icklesham on Main Road. The church features a chancel with north and south chapels, and a tower situated at the west end of the north chapel. The tower is constructed in three stages and has a stone vault in the lowest stage. The nave and aisles are of Norman design, while the chancel dates from the late 12th century and the south chapel from the 14th century. The church underwent restoration by S.S. Teulon between 1848 and 1849, during which the roof was reconstructed with a very steep pitch and a hexagonal west porch was added.
