Description

Sowdens is a restored L-shaped building located on Udimore Road in Brede. The east wing dates back to the 15th century and is constructed with timber framing and plaster infilling. The east front projects on brackets, while the ground floor has been rebuilt in red brick. It features a steeply pitched hipped tiled roof and casement windows. The west end of the building is a 17th-century addition, and the L-wing to the north was added in the 18th century. The building has two storeys and three windows, with a crown-post roof visible inside.
