Description
Blue Cottage is a pair of cottages that have been combined into one house, dated 1794 and altered over time. The building features a rendered plinth, weatherboard that is battered at the base, and a brick outshut. It has a plain tile roof and stands two storeys tall with a symmetrical elevation consisting of paired two-bay cottages. The rear includes a 20th-century outshut. Each former cottage has a doorway, now fitted with part-glazed, small-pane, 20th-century double doors, and a window to the outside, along with two windows on the first floor. All windows are 20th-century wooden casements with two lights and small panes, and the ground floor openings have pentices. A 20th-century date plaque is located at the center of the first floor. A central corniced brick ridge stack with four flues is present. To the right side, there is a 20th-century porch with a part-glazed board door that protects the current entrance. At the rear, a catslide roof over the outshut is interrupted to the left of center by a 20th-century tile-hung gable. Inside, the cottage features stop-chamfered cross-beams and brick fireplaces. In the early 19th century, the building served as the Parish Poor House.
