Description
Lewins Croft is a large building with an irregular plan, resembling three sides of a courtyard, with ground infilling on the south side and a projection to the northeast. It is a 16th-century timber-framed structure with plaster infilling, while the ground floor has been rebuilt in red brick. The southeast gable end is tile-hung, and the first floor of the northeast wing is weather-boarded. The building features a tiled roof and casement windows, along with a gabled red brick porch. Notably, the east wall leans outward, and its first floor beam slopes downhill to the south. Originally serving as an inn, it was later known as Philips Building or the Rabbit Warren.
