Description

The Hayes Arms Hotel is a building of group value, originally a half-H-shaped structure dating from the 17th century or earlier. It is timber-framed with plaster infilling, although the ground floor of the south front has been altered with a red brick facade and tile hanging above. The southwest wing exhibits close-studding and oversails on a moulded bressummer. The east front features squares of plaster infilling. The roof is tiled. Casement windows are present throughout. The building is two storeys high and has four windows. A larger addition was made to the south of the original southwest wing in the mid-19th century. This addition is stuccoed and features two bays of three windows on each floor. A large, modern porch occupies the southeast corner of the original section of the building.
