Description

PLUMPTON PLUMPTON 1. 5206 Main station building on north side of the line Subsidiary station building on south side of line and connecting footbridge at Plumpton Station TQ 31 NE 5/227 II

  1. A good example of a small rural railway station. Mid C19 - the line was opened in 1847. One storey. Three windows facing north-east, 4 windows facing south-west. Faced with weatherboarding. Wide eaves cornice with iron brackets. Hipped slate roof. Glazing bars intact. Small waiting-room on the other side of the line with wide overhanging canopy across the platform. Connecting contemporary iron staircase across the line with 2 dog-leg flights.
