Description
Plumpton Station features a main station building on the north side of the railway line, a subsidiary station building on the south side, and a connecting footbridge. This small rural railway station is a good example of mid-19th century architecture, as the line was opened in 1847. The station is a single storey with three windows facing northeast and four windows facing southwest. It is clad in weatherboarding and has a wide eaves cornice supported by iron brackets. The hipped roof is covered in slate, and the glazing bars are intact. There is a small waiting room on the opposite side of the line, which has a wide overhanging canopy across the platform. A contemporary iron staircase connects the two sides of the line, featuring two dog-leg flights.
