Description
Coney Hall Barn is a 16th-century barn located on Spithurst Road in Newick. It originally had three bays but was reroofed and extended by two bays, with a midstrey added in the mid-19th century. The barn is timber framed and clad in weatherboarding, featuring a steeply pitched slate roof and a hipped projecting midstrey at the front. It now consists of five bays, with the eastern three bays showcasing a queenpost roof from the 16th century, while the western two bays have collar beams from the mid-19th century. The structure includes jowled upright posts, a mid rail, and a series of curved braces. The curved braces at the former western end were revised when the barn was extended to the new western end.
