Description

This is a range of houses and shops dating from about 1900, located prominently on South Street. The building is three storeys high with an attic, and each house features one narrow window and one bay of three windows. The exterior is tile hung, with tiled roofs. The building is arranged in two blocks, flanking a narrow passageway. A key feature is a series of ten gables, each with scalloped bargeboards projecting from brackets with pendants. Below these gables, on the first and second floors, are bay windows featuring an enriched frieze imitating pargeting or strapwork. The upper portions of the windows have glazing bars, while the lower portions are plate glass. Original shop fronts are present on the ground floor.
