Description
The Stables and Coachhouses at Compton Place are 18th century structures located to the east of the main house. They create a complete courtyard, with the east and west sides being symmetrical. The buildings are constructed of cobbles with red brick dressings and have slate roofs. The main blocks on the east and west sides are two storeys high, housing stables with rooms above. Each block features brick porches at the center, topped with pediments over round-headed arches. The north and south sides are single storey and consist of the coachhouses. The south side has a central parapet on the roof, while the north side, which is detached, was likely added slightly later.
