Description
The statue of Captain Scott, who died in 1912, is located at the west end of Building Number 1/87C within HM Naval Base. It was designed by Lady Katherine Scott, his widow. The statue is made of bronze, granite, and concrete. It stands on a stepped concrete podium with a rock-faced granite plinth. The pedestal features a bronze commemorative plaque on the west side and supports the bronze statue of Captain Scott, who is depicted with his cap in hand and a husky dog lying at his feet. The statue commemorates Captain Robert Falcon Scott, RN, CVO, 1868-1912, and includes a quotation from his journal.
