Description

The front wall with gates to Lovat Bank, located on Silver Street in Newport Pagnell, was built in 1877 by Edward Swinfen Harris for F J Taylor, a manufacturer of mineral water and mustard. The garden walls are constructed of red brick in English bond and feature wooden gates. The walls include a plinth with a stepped, chamfered offset and chamfered brick coping on an offset base. There are slightly projecting piers and taller gate-piers, with two entrances that have double gates. Each gate consists of one wide leaf and one narrower leaf, with diagonal boarding on the lower halves and curved members on the upper halves, topped with applied crenels on the top rails.
