Description
The Police Section House, now disused, is a mid-19th century building located on the east side of Chatham Dockyard. It is constructed of yellow stock brick with stone dressings and features a slate roof, presenting a rectangular plan. The building stands three storeys tall and has a seven-window range. The middle four-window range on both the front and back is set forward, adorned with plat and impost bands, as well as a moulded eaves cornice. The ground floor has a segmental-arched arcade that is blocked, while the upper windows are flat-arched with rubbed brick and feature 6/6-pane sash windows. To the south end, there is a two-storey, two-window range and steps leading up to a doorway. An octagonal ridge lantern is present, featuring 6/6-pane sashes and an ogee domed roof. The interior has not been inspected. This building is part of a significant group of dockyard structures.
