Description
Afton Farmhouse is a former farmhouse, now a house, largely refronted in the early 19th century, although its origins are in the 18th century. The building is rendered with a tiled roof and has rendered brick stacks at each end. It has an L-shaped layout and two storeys with two windows at the front. The windows are 16-pane sashes set within moulded architraves, with shutters to the ground floor. A gabled, slated porch, added in the mid-19th century, features kneelers and a semi-circular arch containing a fixed 6-pane window. A late 18th-century door is located to the side of the porch. The “L” wing contains sash windows with horns. Attached to the rear by a wall is a former 18th-century brewhouse, constructed of stone rubble with a tiled roof and a hipped left side. There is a single, triple window within a stone architrave with a keystone. The doorcase also has a stone architrave with a keystone, and a plank door.
