Description

The Parish Church of St Anne is a Grade II* listed building located on Kew Green, dating back to 1714. It was lengthened and had a north aisle added in 1770 by J J Kirby. The Royal Gallery was constructed in 1805, and a stone Doric west portico was added in 1830 by Sir Jeffry Wyatville. The south aisle was completed in 1884, along with alterations to the chancel in the same year.

The interior features a four-bay nave supported by Doric columns leading to an entablature and a shallow barrel vault. In the north aisle, there are monuments dedicated to William Jackson Hooker, who died in 1865, and Joseph Dalton Hooker, who died in 1911; both were directors of the Royal Botanical Gardens. The monuments include Wedgewood-type medallions and panels depicting botanical specimens, created by Woolner and Palgrave.
