Description

The Rectory is a Victorian building located on Church Road in Cranford. It is constructed of brick and has origins dating back to the 18th century, though it has been modernized. The structure is 2½ storeys tall and features windows in unequal cross wings, with the gable front of the slightly advanced right wing. The central window is a 2-light design under a gablet, while the right-hand windows have drip-moulds and a moulded panel beneath the drip-mould in the gable. The left-hand windows have red-brick cambered heads, with two on the ground floor and an additional one in the gable. The right-hand gable is coped, and the left-hand gable features scalloped barge-boards.

In the center, the ground floor is advanced and flush with the wings, featuring a doorway with a hood supported by consoles, flanked by windows. The roof is steeply tiled, merging into the taller roof of the right cross wing, which is hipped over the left cross wing. There are two stacks with tall diagonal chimneys positioned right of center, along with two small external stacks at the left end. The building has a core that dates back to the 17th century.
