Description
Cranford House Stables is an early 18th-century rectangular building that was originally L-shaped. It is constructed of brown brick with red dressings and has one storey with two-storey wings. The ground floor features ten semi-circular arches with stone keystones, eight of which are dummy arches, and brown brick hand connecting imposts with a semi-circular panel above. There is a parapet and a central Dutch gable that includes an inset clock.
On the left wing, the first floor has three sash windows with glazing bars set under flat gauged brick arches, along with a parapet and an old tiled roof. The right wing has one sash window on the first floor and a weatherboarded gable at the right end, also with a parapet. The roof has been renewed with machine tiles. Half gables, similar to the central gable, connect the wings to the centre. Additionally, an early 18th-century wall runs south from the left section.
Cranford House Stables, along with the Church of St Dunstan and the walls to the north and south of the stables, form a group.
