Description
The Rectory is an early 19th-century building located on Park Road in Hanworth. It is two storeys high and constructed of stock brick, featuring five sash windows. The central entrance is highlighted by a Greek Doric porch with fluted columns, which encloses a semi-circular recess that contains a round-headed doorway. The glazed door above has a fanlight displaying the painted arms of the Duke of St Albans, who built the house. The building has flat broad projecting eaves and a hipped slate roof.
Inside, the entry hall features a central freestanding staircase that divides at the wall into two flights and leads to a gallery. There is a semi-circular window above the stairs that contains the Royal Arms of James I, dated 1625, made from enamelled glass sourced from a church. The interior details, including the mantelpiece and double staircase, are generally original.
