Description

Tudor Cottage is a detached house built in 1921, designed by architect Ernest George Trobridge. The exterior is clad in rough sawn elm boards and tile hanging, with some brown brick on the lower walls and chimney stacks. It features a plain tiled roof that is steeply pitched and has a double pitch with low eaves. The building is one storey plus a roof storey and has an irregular composition, with two fused gables facing the street and roof ridges running at right angles to the street.

The left side of the facade is covered in untrimmed elm boarding that runs horizontally, while the right side is tile hung above the ground floor. There is a polygonal bay window to the right of centre, topped with a conical roof that extends into the upper floor, with glazing continuing as an angular projection to the left of centre. On the upper floor, there is a projecting bay window on the left side beneath a lean-to roof, and a square-headed five-light window to the right side at upper floor level, where the centre light has a high cill to accommodate the rising conical roof from the bay window below.

The windows feature painted timber mullions and small rectangular leaded panes, with floral motifs in stained glass at the corners. There is painted lead trimming around the windows, shaped into a wavy pattern beneath the cills. To the right side, there are double planked garage doors, and the entrance is slightly recessed in the left-hand corner beneath an overhanging roof, with the original planked door. The house has two substantial, tall, clustered, and moulded brick chimney stacks with moulded tops. The interiors have not been seen but are likely to be of architectural interest.
