Description
Manor Cottage, Waxwell Cottage, and Manor House are a group of timber-framed cottages dating from the 16th century, located on Waxwell Lane in Pinner. The buildings have been significantly altered on the outside in the early 20th century, featuring plastered fronts with false framing. They include leaded casement windows, with one early example found in the dormer of Waxwell Cottage. Inside Waxwell Cottage, there are exposed structural timbers, such as a queen post truss in the party wall with Manor Cottage. A notable feature is the smoke chamber, which measures about 5 feet square and is made of wattle and daub. Some parts of the roof structure still have wood braces, and the cottages have an old tiled roof. The Manor House was burnt down in the 19th century and has since been reconstructed.
