Description
No. 14 South Parade is a Grade II* listed building constructed between 1889 and 1891 by architect C. F. A. Voysey, with a lower wing added in 1894, also designed by Voysey. The house was intentionally designed to stand out against the red brick buildings in the area. It features roughcast exterior walls that are bare grey, complemented by robust stone dressings around the horizontal windows. The eaves extend far out and are supported by elegant, thin iron brackets. The building has three storeys, with a later two-storey wing on the left side. It includes multi-light leaded casement windows and a two-storey bay with a tented roof. This house holds significant historical importance as it was built for the artist J. W. Forster.
