Description
Highwood Ash and Stables is an early 18th-century building with later 18th-century tiled alterations. It features painted brick construction and a hipped roof, with a small section of slate. The building is two storeys tall, with a lower two-storey wing to the right that has two windows. The main block has a parapet and a corbelled band between the storeys, while the lower wing is plain. The windows are late 18th-century sashes set in early 18th-century nearly flush frames, except for the ground floor of the lower wing. The entrance has a doorcase with pilasters, a modern entablature on brackets, and a fanlight. To the right is a stable. The garden front features a late 18th-century splayed stucco full-height bay with a modillion cornice to the left and a tall round-headed staircase window to the right. The rest of the lower wing is mostly weatherboarded and projects under wide eaves. The building is in very good condition, with a painted brick front and a gabled weatherboard back, topped by a red tiled roof with a weathercock.
