Description
Nos. 1 to 6 Sterling Street form a row of houses dating from the early to mid-19th century. They are built of stock brick with a stucco ground floor, channelled on Nos. 4 to 6. The houses are three storeys high, with No. 1 having four storeys. Each house has two windows, with square-headed doorways and windows. The windows are casements and sashes, some with glazing bars. Cast iron balconies are present to the first floor of each house, except for No. 5, which has altered windows to both the ground and first floors, one dating to around 1900. Area railings are also present. The cartoonist Bairnsfather, 1888–1959, lived at this address.
