Description
This is a terrace of houses numbered 65 to 113, Belgrave Road, also including number 1 St George’s Square. The terrace dates to the mid-19th century and is constructed of stucco. The roof is not visible. It is a nearly complete, balanced terrace with three groups of houses that project forward, located at numbers 75 to 93 and 109 to 113. These projecting sections have rusticated quoins. The terrace has four storeys, an attic, and a basement. Each section is two windows wide. The ground floor is characterised by channelling. Projecting Doric porches are present, along with triglyph friezes. A balustraded balcony runs across the first floor. Windows are square-headed, with architraves above the ground floor. The cornices of the first and second floor windows are prominent. The windows of the projecting houses have pediments. A console cornice sits above the third floor. The attic storey is full height and has a simplified subsidiary cornice. The windows are mainly sash windows with plate glass, although the first floor of the projecting houses have French casements. The return on the right-hand side of number 113 provides access. Cast iron area railings are present. The terrace lines the road leading into St George’s Square from the west, and is accompanied by a matching terrace on the opposite side of the road.
