Description
The railings on either side of the Tower Porch at the Church of St James The Less were created around 1861 by the architect G.E. Street. These church railings are made of wrought iron and feature a highly inventive design that is almost proto Art Nouveau. They are tall Gothic railings adorned with rich yet delicate scroll and flower ornamentation. Their design can be compared to later ironwork by Street at the Law Courts on the Strand.
