Description
The Russian Orthodox Patriarchial Church of the Assumption of All Saints is a church located in Ennismore Gardens, City of Westminster, built between 1848 and 1849 by architect L. Vulliamy. It underwent restoration and additions from 1887 to 1897 by Townsend. The church is constructed of brick, with a stone west facade, and is designed in the Italian Romanesque style. It features a basilica layout with lean-to aisles, an apse, galleries on three sides, and a campanile at the southwest corner. The west facade includes a projecting gabled porch with marble columns at the center, a rose window above, and arched windows. Inside, the church boasts very tall Corinthian columns, a small clerestory, and decorations, including murals, by Heywood Sumner.
