Description

This is a block of four houses, numbers 52 to 56 Belgrave Road, built in the middle of the 19th century. The houses are constructed of stucco and feature a leaded mansard roof over part of the block. They extend four storeys along Belgrave Road, with a two-storey wing extending to the right, providing an additional window. The block returns three bays to the left. A projecting porch with Doric columns is present at the front, and a similar porch is located on the left return. The main entrance doors are panelled. The ground floor is rusticated. A continuous balustraded balcony runs along the front of the first floor. The windows have square heads, with pediments over the first-floor windows, architraves to the second and third floors, and cornices to the second floor. A modillion cornice runs along the top of the facade, topped by a parapet. The two-storey right-hand wing has arched windows on its first floor. The houses are included in the listing primarily for their group value in relation to the buildings in Warwick Square.
