Description
This is a row of early 19th-century buildings on the north side of Hackney Road. They are constructed of stock brick with slate mansard roofs, where visible, and have coped parapets. The buildings are three storeys high with basements, and some have dormers. The facades of numbers 351 and 353 were heightened around the mid-19th century. Heavy stucco eaves and a cornice run along the front. The ground floor facades of numbers 347, 349, and 351 are stuccoed, with the facade of number 351 being channelled. Each building has three windows, and most feature sash windows with painted reveals and glazing bars. Windows at numbers 337 and 339 are French casements. The ground floor windows are set within double arched brick recesses, with stucco bands at impost level. Numbers 337, 339, 343, 351, and 353 each have iron balconies to their first-floor windows. The doorways are round-arched, with fanlights, and feature panelled doors, except at numbers 347, 351, and 353. Number 351 has a porch supported by Ionic columns. Numbers 337 to 353 (odd) and numbers 359 to 385 (odd) form a group.
