Description

This is a row of early 18th-century terraced houses at 17-25 Wilkes Street, London. The buildings are constructed of yellow brick with red brick dressings. They are three storeys high, with a basement and attics, and each house originally had three windows. The windows are set beneath segmental arches and have flush frames. Most of the original sash windows remain, and many retain their original glazing bars. The ground-floor windows of number 17 have been replaced with modern glazing. The doorcases to numbers 19 and 25 are particularly noteworthy, featuring flat, rusticated, Doric pilasters, triglyph friezes, and cornice canopies. Numbers 13 to 25 are historically grouped with number 10 Wilkes Street.
