Description
No. 38 Sheffield Terrace is a house built in 1876 by Alfred Waterhouse, and it is his only known surviving town house. The building is made of brick and has four storeys plus a basement. The windows are arranged irregularly. The entrance is located on the left side and is accessed by steps; to the right, there is a two-storey bay with three windows. Other windows are set in recessed pointed arches. The top floor features a gabled window on the left. There is an eaves cornice and a frieze made of ornamental brickwork, and tall slate chimneys are positioned on either side. A cast iron canopy, which is glazed, covers the door.
