Description
This is a row of three early 19th-century terraced houses now used as shops and offices. The buildings are located on Old Street, Islington. The brickwork is yellow, laid in a Flemish bond pattern, with stucco detailing and roofs of Welsh slate. Each house has three storeys and originally two windows. Numbers 111 and 113 have pilasters at ground floor level, which appear to be replacements, supporting a fascia and cornice. Number 115 has panelled pilasters with consoles above, flanking the entrance and a return window facing Helmet Row, and a possibly original fascia that is now boxed over. A round-arched entrance with a fanlight is present in Helmet Row. The upper-floor windows have flat arches with gauged brick heads; the first-floor window of number 115 is set within a recessed round-arched panel with a gauged brick head. The first floor of number 111 retains original 6/6 sash windows. Dormers are present in the mansard roof of numbers 111-113. The return elevation to Helmet Row originally had three windows, though the second-floor window on the south side has since been blocked.
