Description
The gas house located to the west of the reservoir is an early to mid-19th century, single-storey, four-bay building constructed from stock brick. It features a moulded brick cornice and a parapet, with a segmental gable end on the north side, although the roof has been replaced with a flat design. The windows are fitted with glazing bars and have radial heads beneath round stone lintels. A similar lintel is present above the fanlight of the four-panel door. At the south end, there is a workshop, while the original function of the north end remains uncertain. On the north wall, a large stone panel includes an entablature adorned with wolves' heads in the frieze and a pediment, along with an inscription that commemorates the construction of the reservoirs between 1830 and 1833 by William Chadwell Mylne.
