Description

Numbers 1 to 4 form a late 18th or early 19th century terrace of three storeys and a basement, each with two windows. Numbers 1 and 2 have had mansard roofs with dormers added. The buildings are constructed of stock brick and feature a stone-coped parapet, a stone first-floor sill band, and stone window cills. Sash windows with glazing bars are set within gauged flat brick arches; those on the first floor are tall and have ornamental cast iron balconies. The front doors are of four panels, with ornamental upper panels, flanked by panelled pilasters supporting a mutuled cornice head with a fanlight above, which has an ornamental carved border, all set within a stucco lined reveal and round arched recess. Original features include a wrought iron handrail and area railings with spearhead standards and urn finials. Numbers 1 to 4 are part of a group of buildings with numbers 1 to 22 on the opposite side of the road.
